Engineers are “due on site shortly” following a signalling fault that is disrupting train services on the Far North Line.

The 7am Inverness to Wick service was delayed at Rogart for more than 20 minutes as a result of the fault, and was then further delayed at a later station and was running more than half-an-hour late at the time of writing.

Other services passing Rogart are also potentially “subject to delay”.

Confirming the signalling disruption, which is expected to continue until at least midday, a spokesperson for ScotRail said: “Network Rail Scotland have informed us of a signalling fault at Rogart, which is causing delays to services between Inverness and Wick. Engineers are due on site shortly.”

The nature of the fault was not revealed, however, Rogart experienced signalling issues in August and September that prevented its passing loop from being used. That issue was resolved and it is not known if the latest disruption is connected to that or not.

Meanwhile, an update from ScotRail on the journeycheck.com website has confirmed that disruption is expected until midday and that rail replacement transport has not been requested.
