An engineering firm has been appointed to help take forward plans for a transformation of Inverness’s Bught Park.
An interactive museum dedicated to shinty and a new ground source heating system are planned as part of a £7.1 million upgrade of the city park, along with improvements to the current B-listed grandstand.
Inverness firm Fairhurst has been appointed to lead work on the pavilions with money coming from the UK Government’s Levelling Up fund.
Improvements work is also planned for the nearby Northern Meeting Park including the creation of a brand new pavilion there, plus new heating.
Fairhurst, based at the city’s Beechwood Business Park, is also likely to be given that work.
The firm was selected from seven tenders for the contract.
The project is being led by High Life Highland, Highland Council’s arms-length provider of sports, recreation and culture.
Fairhurst has to design and provide specification of hardstandings on the site and provide a transport planning report to accompany a planning application for the work.
