A ROAD crash in the Highlands has blocked part of the A87 Skye road between Shiel Bridge and Loch Cluanie.

Traffic Scotland has advised that emergency services are "en route" and has published a map which appears to pinpoint the crash location as being on a stretch of the road not far to the west of the 1719 Glen Shiel battle site.

In a post which was published at 10.52am, Traffic Scotland's website said: "The A87 is closed in both directions near Cluanie as a result of a road traffic incident. Drivers are advised to use an alternate route."
