Culloden Moor water main burst sparks emergency repairs; ruptured 9-inch trunk main located under key B9006 Inverness-A96 road, says Scottish Water
Motorists and residents are facing disruption after a major water main burst on the Culloden road.
Scottish Water engineers have arrived in the Culloden Moor area after a nine-inch water main trunk pipe ruptured beneath the B9006 road.
The burst is causing disruption to customers in the IV2 postcode and “nearby surrounding areas”.
Scottish Water has been approached for details as to how many homes and businesses have been affected.
Motorists are also being impacted, with “traffic management” now in place while the emergency repairs are carried out.
A Scottish Water spokesperson, in an update at 10.15am, said: “Our teams are on-site preparing to carry out a repair to a burst nine-inch trunk water main which is causing the interruption to water supplies for customers in IV2 Culloden Moor and nearby surrounding areas.
“The burst is located on the B9006 roadway between Culloden Moor Inn and Brookfield, and traffic management is now on-site to ensure the safety of the public and our teams whilst we carry out the repair. Please consider an alternative route if at all possible, in order to avoid potential delays to your journey.

“Tankers are distributing water into the network to restore and maintain supplies for as many customers, however, please be aware that customers may experience no water or low / intermittent water pressure until the repair has been completed.
“We are making arrangements to deliver bottled water door-to-door for all affected customers to provide alternative water supplies until we have returned to a normal service.
“Some customers may also experience discoloured water which is normal during such an incident.#
“If you experience brown water, we advise to allow your cold-water kitchen tap to run at a reduced pressure until this runs clear. Do not run any other taps or use any water appliances whilst doing so and follow the same process with any other taps affected once the water is clear from your cold-water kitchen tap.
“If you experience white water, this is air trapped in the supply and will clear within 24 to 48 hours.
“We apologise to all affected customers for any inconvenience or disruption caused, and thank them for their continued patience and co-operation.”
