Police, ambulance and fire crews from Moray Firth area raise record charity golf day sum for MFR Cash for Kids
Emergency service crew members have almost tripled the cash sum previously raised from an annual charity golf tournament.
Some 60 participants from the police, fire and ambulance services, mainly from the Moray Firth area, took part in the fundraiser for MFR Cash for Kids.
Having raised £750 in their first year and then £900 in the second year, the third contest proved a real charity money spinner with £2580 raised.
Ambulance care assistant Andrew Gross said: “This was, in the main, thanks to a donation from a local building firm Munros Builders and The Federation of Demolition Experts, to the tune of £1500.
“The players and staff at Kings Golf Course in Inverness, where the event was played, all participated in the raffle on the day and we raised an additional £1080 to bring this year’s total to £2580.”
Organisation of the event revolves on a rolling basis between each of the services, this year it was the turn of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The event is aimed at bringing the three services together in a social setting in contrast to all too familiar contact at traumatic events that require all or a combination of the services working in partnership.
Mr Gross added: “It was felt that events such as this will improve partnership working, improve working relationships and assist physical and mental wellbeing for all attendees.
“Monies are also raised via raffles held on the day with prizes being donated by participating players, individuals and businesses in the local community who are supportive of the services and the charity.”
