INVERNESS people have been rallying round efforts to restore the vandalised Gruffalo to its former glory.

After the Highland News highlighted that the wood carving of the loveable monster made famous in children’s books had its face damaged, a local artist plans to carry out restoration work.

Ally Thom has invited those responsible for the damage to help him on a “no names” basis, and he has talked to one lad who said that he was sorry about the damage but that it was done accidentally.

At the same time another Inverness man, Rikki Allan, has launched an online Crowdfunding appeal to raise £500 to rebuild the Gruffalo’s face.
