Smithton Primary School will be closed to pupils on August 20 as part of a move to a newly refurbished building.

A Highland Council spokeswoman said: "Staff are not permitted to access the school building during the refurbishments which will be completed over the school summer holiday.

"The council apologises for any inconvenience caused as the staff and contractors use this day to prepare the school for the children’s return. The council is giving parents and carers of pupils attending Smithton Primary School early warning to enable alternative childcare arrangements to be made for this day if necessary."
