An Inverness man had a drunken dispute with his flat-mate and threatened to kill him.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Connor Franklin (22), now of Union Street, was in the Tannery Court property on May 15.

The court heard he was intoxicated and police were called to a disturbance there.

Fiscal depute Ruaridh Allison said: “A man could be heard shouting I am going to kill you. He had an empty beer bottle in his hand, holding it up but he dropped it on seeing the officers. There were numerous broken beer bottles on the floor.”

He added that Franklin then swore at the police and made a similar threat. Defence solicitor Cecily Kingston said: “My client has little recollection of events. He had abstained from alcohol for a couple of months and this was a relapse.”

Sheriff Sara Matheson ordered Franklin to carry out 60 hours of unpaid community work.
