Police stopped a vehicle in Inverness for a routine check and discovered the driver was under the influence of cannabis.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that officers smelt the drug from the cabin of 20-year-old Daniel Malone’s Vauxhall Corsa in Harbour Road, Inverness on March 2 last year.

It was searched but no drugs were found.

However a blood test revealed that Malone, of Roseisle, Burghead, had a reading of 6.8mcgs when the safe limit is 2mcgs.

He was fined £420 and banned from driving for a year.
