A 62-year-old woman has admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine.

Joyce Burnside of Anderson Street, Inverness did not request bail at Inverness Sheriff Court when she appeared last week.

Appearing before Sheriff Chris Dickson she admitted being concerned in the supply of the Class A drug on June 11 last year.

Sentence was deferred until February 13 for a background report and defence solicitor John MacColl made no motion for bail.

He said: “She recognises that a jail sentence may be the outcome.”

Burnside admitted previous convictions for similar offences.

Fiscal depute Karen Aitken told the court that police had received intelligence that a car driven by Burnside was being used to transport drugs.

The vehicle was stopped at a car wash in Inverness and officers found a bag of white powder on the front passenger seat.

On analysis it was found to be 492 grams of a cocaine and paracetamol mix, with 42 per cent of it the narcotic.
