Inverness Sheriff Court heard a drug dealer pointed police towards a quantity of amphetamine in his flat.

Officers initially found cannabis and herbal cannabis while searching Phillip Hodgson’s home in Telford Road, Inverness, on September 12, 2018.

Depute fiscal Karen Aitken said that the 45-year-old then told police: “I might as well tell you, the prize is in the fridge freezer.”

This led to the discovery of 545 grams of amphetamine in two bags, valued at £3000.

The 592 grams of cannabis recovered had a potential value of £1535 while the 747 grams of herbal cannabis was valued at £10,395.

A total of £740 in cash was also recovered from one of his trouser pockets.

Solicitor Clare Russell said Hodgson, who she said suffered from post traumatic stress disorder as a result of events in his childhood, knew he would be going to jail.

“He accrued debt and was holding these substances to pay off that debt,” she said.

Sheriff Margaret Neilson jailed Hodgson for a total of 15 months.
