A 28-year-old roofer who drove while more than four times the legal drink-drive limit has been fined £840 and banned from driving for 14 months.

Stuart Drummond, of Cameron Road, Inverness was stopped by police in the city’s Thornbush Road on September 12 last year.

A blood sample was taken as the breathalyser equipment was faulty.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that his reading was 210mcgs of alcohol when the limit is 50mcgs.

Sheriff Gary Aitken certified Drummond as suitable for the drink-drive rehabilitation scheme which will earn him a 14-week discount in his disqualification if he passes it.
