A RESIDENT of an Inverness care home has enjoyed a mini outdoor adventure.

Raymond Reynolds stays at the Kingsmills Care Home, run by Brighterkind, whose Wishing Well programme provides residents with experiences fitting in with their existing likes.

As a great outdoors fan who loved cycling and camping with his family he was delighted when he was offered the chance to go on a mini camping trip.

The 83-year-old was involved in all aspects of the trip, pointing out the best routes to take and choosing a suitable waterside camping spot on the shores of Loch Farr.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Loch Farr,” he said.

“What a lovely surprise and it brought back so many memories.

“It’s great being outdoors – it keeps me young.”

After the camping trip he also enjoyed a bike trip courtesy of the Cycling Without Age initiative which provides “chauffeur-driven” trishaw rides for the elderly in Inverness, overseen by a team of volunteers.

Magic Moments co-ordinator Noah Ramanan said: “Raymond loved his Wishing Well experiences. He was very outdoorsy in his younger years so it’s fantastic that we could arrange these activities which help him to maintain that part of his identity and bring back happy memories for him.”
