An Orkney man has been ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work after admitting domestic abuse.

Craig Cooper (39) assaulted his former partner during the incident.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Cooper, of Kirkwall, had gotten into a row with the woman over living arrangements at a property in Abban Street, Inverness.

The father-of-three was said to have been abusing alcohol at the time of the offence.

He admitted that between June 20 and June 21, 2021, he was of threatening and abusive behaviour by repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering derogatory remarks as well as kicking and throwing household items.

A community payback order was imposed with the requirement to carry out the unpaid work as a direct alternative to custody.
