Dolphins get big cash boost from builders
Marine House in Rosemarkie is a landmark feature which has recently been converted into luxurious apartments.
Now developers ARK Estates, the sister company of William Gray Construction, is helping the fortunes of a local feature of a rather dierent kind – the Moray Firth dolphin population.
The company has donated £150 from each of the 11 apartments to Marine Connection, a charity which carries out work to preserve the marine life in the local area.
Marine Connection director Margaux Dodds said: “Dolphins and whales are increasingly exposed to threats in our seas and oceans, ranging from habitat degradation, scarcity of prey, noise and net entanglement.
“Donations such as this generous £1650 from ARK Estates, are vital to support our conservation eorts and campaigns, continuing our work to safeguard the Moray Firth dolphins and address threats to their welfare.
"We also raise public awareness and actively engage with decision makers to bring about eective legislation to protect these magnificent marine mammals around the globe.”
Willie Gray said: “This area is renowned for its dolphin spotting opportunities and our apartments have proved hugely popular for the stunning views, as much as their beautiful design and luxurious fittings. We’re delighted to help contribute to the work of this locally based charity.”
ARK Estates recently completed their extensive renovation of the magnificent Victorian building which has been a focal point in Rosemarkie since it was built in the 1860s.
Only four of the apartments remain for sale and the first residents moved in this summer.
Originally a private house named Hawkhill, the building served as a hotel before being operated as a care home.
It had lain vacant for a number of years before being transformed into two and three bedroom apartments over three levels.
Properties range from garden level apartments to a stunning third oor apartment with glass balcony and spectacular sea view.
