Police are appealing for witnesses after a dog was killed in hit and run in Inverness.

The one-year-old black cocker spaniel was involved in a collision with a car in Barn Church Road at around 5.30pm last Thursday.

A police spokesman said: "Sadly the dog died as a result of the collision and the driver of the car did not stop at the scene.

"The vehicle involved was described as a small silver car and was travelling west, towards Inverness city centre.

"Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information, to contact police by phoning 101 or by Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting Police Scotland incident number 2229 of 07/01/2021."
