Sponsored by the Springfield Group, the 2022 Highland Business Women (HBW) Awards is quickly approaching with the prestigious ceremony taking place next month.

The awards provide an opportunity for business women across the region to be nominated for a variety of specially curated categories which encompass a wide range of achievements that have been made over the past 12 months.

As the world has changed over the last few years and become more digitally focused, it has become integral for businesses to respond to these changes with tech-savvy to ensure that customers’ needs are being met in the smartest way possible.

The progress made in this area by businesses across the Highlands is being recognised at the HBW Awards once again, with the digital innovation category now open for nominations.

The digital innovation category was won last year by Dingwall-based Fèis Rois, who enable young people and lifelong learners to participate in music education and gaelic culture through the use of digital technology education programmes.

Applications for nominations for this year’s digital innovation award are now being sought from members and non-members of HBW.

Alongside digital innovation, sustainability has also become a hot topic, as Scotland alongside the rest of the world races to reach net-zero targets.

Businesses have a role to play within these targets, and the women who are making strides in responsible decision-making have been recognised by the team at SSE Renewables, who have kindly agreed to sponsor the excellence in sustainable development category for this year’s HBW Awards.

Explaining why SSE Renewables has decided to sponsor the excellence in sustainable development category, Jade O’Hara, stakeholder engagement at SSE Renewables, said: “This award showcases the contribution women make to the Highland economy and the benefits that responsible decision-making brings to the workplace and wider community.

“With a looming skills gap, our response is to inspire and support new talent into our sector, from the broadest possible range of sources.

“We’re proud to sponsor this award as we believe having a diverse and inclusive workforce is vital to achieving net-zero targets.”

The excellence in sustainable category is open

to HBW members only.

Hosted by Nicky Marr, the 2022 HBW Awards will take place at the Kingsmills Hotel in Inverness on August 25.

Applications and other award categories can be found at www.hbw.scot/awards

The deadline for applications is midnight on July 31.
