A man’s body has been recovered from a Highland river by police divers.

The 65-year-old man, who has not been named, got into difficulty in the River Farrar in Glen Strathfarrar on Saturday afternoon.

Police, fire and ambulance crews, as well as Coastguard teams and a search-and-rescue helicopter were all called to the scene after the alarm was raised at about 2.20pm.

Police later recovered the man’s body on Sunday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Sunday, September 8, officers from Police Scotland's Marine Dive Unit recovered the body of a 65-year-old man who got into difficulty in the River Farrar [on Saturday].

“His next of kin has been informed. There are no suspicious circumstances around the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

The River Farrar runs from Loch Monar, and joins the River Beauly near Struy.
