RAIL services in the Highlands are facing major disruption this afternoon following a fault in the signal system between Carrbridge and Inverness.

Services between Inverness and both Glasgow and Edinburgh are currently delayed or have been revised, with disruption expected to last until at least 6pm.

Engineers are currently on site and passengers are being advised to check regularly for updates.

Scotrail have also advised that an IT issue is currently preventing some customers from using their cards at ticket machines and booking offices.

It says there may also be issues for customers trying to collect pre-purchased tickets.
