Delay in reopening Raigmore's emergency waiting room
RAIGMORE Hospital’s emergency department waiting room will remain closed for one more night to allow improvement work to be finished.
The waiting room at the Inverness hospital was closed on Tuesday night this week, and will also close tonight (Wed) at 7.30pm as the work has taken longer than initially anticipated.
A temporary waiting room has been set up in close proximity to the department. No services at the hospital will be affected by this temporary closure.
Brendan Forman, assistant divisional nurse manager, explained that there will be no change for patients arriving by ambulance but patients arriving themselves will be directed to the temporary waiting area which will be well signposted.
He said: "Our temporary waiting room will be to the right of the main emergency department entrance. Patients will use the entrance to the Rapid Access Medical Unit, which is next to the emergency department. It will be clearly signposted and, as well as our reception staff, a member of clinical staff will always be in the temporary facility to ensure those waiting are as comfortable as they can be.
"I’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
