Culloden nursery gets top marks from inspectors
A CULLODEN nursery has received a positive report following a Care Inspectorate visit.
Duncan Forbes Nursery cares for a maximum of 53 children, aged from pre-school to three, during term-time.
The service is provided in two adjoining classrooms in the main school building with children having access to their own outside play areas.
The inspectorate sent 19 questionnaires to parents/carers and received 13 replies. These indicated that parents/carers were very satisfied with the quality of care provided.
Comments from the questionnaires included: “We are fully happy with the service we receive, staff are very friendly and my child settled in well and is happy.”
Another stated: “Staff are approachable and have built up good relationships with the children. There is regular communication and parents are kept up to date with school events. Wonderful staff, wonderful school.”
Quality of care and support was graded 5 or very good and staffing was graded 4 or good.
The quality of the nursery environment and quality of management and leadership was not assessed during the unannounced visit last February.
The report said: “Children were happy and clearly enjoyed their time at the service. Children interacted well together and made use of the space and resources available to them.
“Children who benefited from additional support were able to access this and it was evident staff had a good understanding of all the children’s needs and interests.”
“Children approached the staff members for help and reassurance throughout the session which demonstrated that they had developed trusting relationships.
Children were supported to make use of local resources in the community and we talked to the children about their trips to the Gruffalo trail, which they ‘really, really liked’.”
The report added: “We discussed the range of written material available to the children and asked that this be reviewed to support a greater range of subject matter to reflect the nature of a multicultural country.”
