Inverness court hears Culloden mother spat on police officer after curfew breach
A mother of six who spat on a police officer's body armour after breaching a bail curfew has had sentence deferred for a drug treatment and testing order assessment.
Samantha Stewart of Galloway Drive, Culloden appeared by video link at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted the bail breach and assault which occurred on July 27 this year.
Subscribe to receive our free email newslettersThe 36 year old had been on remand but Sheriff Sara Matheson decided to release her on bail after hearing from her solicitor advocate Clare Russell.
Ms Russell said: "Substance misuse is the main underlying factor here.
“She was deemed unsuitable for the programme because she didn't turn up for some initial assessment meetings because she was in custody."
Sheriff Matheson decided to give Stewart another chance to complete the assessment and she will return to court on October 24 to learn the outcome.
