Culloden Academy pupils are delighted with their Gaelic film award.

A COMEDY film following a farmer’s attempts to make a more “humane” black pudding picked up the best film youth award at this year’s prestigious FilmG Gaelic short film competition.

Surreal comedy Eilean nam Muc (Isle of Muck) was made by pupils at Culloden Academy with young people from the school featuring both in front of and behind the camera.

They were presented with their prize at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow and won praise for their efforts from the school community.

A message posted on Culloden Academy’s Facebook page afterwards read: “Everyone is thrilled.

“Well done ladies, we could not be more proud. S’math a rinn sibh (look what you’ve done).”

Highlands MSP Kate Forbes, who attended the ceremony, said: “It was great to attend the FilmG awards, an evening which showcased the great wealth of talent out there and which celebrates Gaelic storytelling and media skills.”

FilmG is run by MG ALBA and Skye-based media company Cànan Graphics Studio, to encourage the growth of Gaelic media talent and has been the starting point for many people now working within the Gaelic TV and film industry.

The ceremony airs on BBC Alba on Friday at 9pm.
