A9 driver from Cromarty was uninsured and unlicensed

An uninsured and unlicensed driver who was caught by police driving a van has been banned from driving for five months and fined £580.

Digger operator Gavin Thomson (35) of Townlands Park, Cromarty appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted the two offences, committed on the afternoon of September 15 last year as he drove along the A9 near the Raigmore interchange.

Defence solicitor John MacColl told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald: "He took the vehicle having been prevailed to do so."
