COURT ROUND UP: Domestic abuser jailed, racist man gesticulated towards a child and Inverness man told blood-covered police officer 'I hope you enjoy having Aids’





It has been another busy week for coverage of cases at Inverness Sheriff Court.

A multiple sclerosis sufferer who sent hundreds of offensive and menacing messages to his estranged wife after she stopped caring for him will spend the festive season behind bars.

Sheriff Gary Aitken decided to revoke 44-year-old Jonathon Clay's bail and remand him in custody until January 30 for an assessment for a programme for men who domestically abuse following fiscal depute Karen Poke telling him of the vile nature of Clay's communications over a three-month period.

A Fort William man who made offensive racist comments and gesticulated towards a child in Inverness will be sentenced at the end of January.

Craig Cook, of Sealladh Na Beinne, Fort William appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court and admitted abusive behaviour which was committed in Harris Road, Inverness on May 14.

A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with breaking into an Aldi supermarket.

It is claimed he stole alcohol and a charity collection tin from the store at Friars Bridge, Inverness on December 20.

Police on mobile patrol decided to stop a car being driven by an Inverness woman because she was known to be involved in drugs.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that when officers pulled over 38-year-old Ashley Kerr, of Aird Road, Inverness just after midnight on January 23 last year in Dores Road, a drug swipe proved positive for cocaine.

An injured Inverness man who subjected police to a tirade of foul language and racist abuse after they went to help him has been placed on a drug treatment and testing order.

Mark Macdonald (47), of Oldtown Road, was appearing for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court after his case had been deferred for an assessment on whether he was suitable for such an order.
