An Inverness man will be sentenced next month after breaking into a popular Inverness visitor attraction with intent to steal.

Neil Redmond (40), of Esk Road, admitted breaking into the Botanic Gardens in Bught Lane on November 15, 2020.

Defence solicitor Willie Young explained that his client had recently completed a drug treatment and testing order and asked Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood to defer sentence for a background report.

Sheriff Fleetwood agreed without hearing the facts of the case from fiscal depute Allison Young. But he told Redmond, who had a long list of previous convictions and will re-appear on May 13: “Don’t get your hopes up.”

Redmond’s bail was continued.
