Couples who are planning to get married in the Highlands are invited to a free online wedding event organised by Independent Humanist Ceremonies (IHC) in Scotland.

Susan Foubister, who is based in Strathpeffer, works for the organisation as a celebrant and is part of its supportive team.

She will be part of the virtual Meet Our Celebrants Facebook event which takes place between 7pm and 9pm on Wednesday, February 24.

It aims to focus on helping couples to navigate the latest government wedding guidance and stay informed when there are any changes.

Ms Foubister said: "Recently we've been helping create some truly epic micro weddings. As well as, in some cases, rescheduling wedding dates into 2022 and even further beyond.

"The IHC team wanted to stay positive and focus on sharing our wedding information with couples. After all, getting married is an incredibly exciting time.

"We really want to help plan beautifully bespoke ceremonies and we always love talking to couples."

Anyone who is planning a wedding, or knows someone who is, will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out if a humanist ceremony is for them.

Couples can pre-join the Facebook group and will spot some fun information about individual IHC celebrants in the run-up to the event.

Ms Foubister said: "We’ve got all sorts of personalities and skills within the group too. Some of our celebrants are wedding award winners. Many are bilingual and can host dual language celebrations. Whilst others are happy to climb mountains; to help you say your big day ‘I do’ with a mountain top view.

"I think it's important to mention that couples can really relax, knowing the IHC team will provide all the information, inspiration, guidance and support they need to feel confident heading into their wedding day. The couples chosen celebrant will then deliver a ceremony that perfectly reflects the individual love story and relay it in a really memorable way."

Anyone who is interested is advised to join the group and on the night there will be a chance to chat one-to-one with chosen celebrants in video rooms.
