Highland Council is warning of a temporary road closure this weekend due to a sporting event.

Torvean Bridge in Inverness will be closed during daylight hours this weekend while a rowing event takes place on the Caledonian Canal.

The swing bridge will be raised on Saturday (March 5) between 9am and 5pm before being re-opened and then raised again on Sunday between 8.30am and 5.30pm.

Highland Council has advised that an alternative route will be available via the Tomnahurich Canal Bridge.

The event taking place on the canal is the Inverness Rowing Club Winter Head Incorporating The Scottish Student Rowing Head.
