HIGHLAND Council has promised to clean up a local beauty spot after the Highland News revealed it was being ruined by fly-tippers.

Torvean Quarry is managed by High Life Highland but owned by the council.

Two weeks ago we reported how Dalneigh resident Bryan Douglas was left disgusted after he found vast amounts of discarded rubbish while walking in adjacent woodland, including thousands of bottles, items of furniture, old clothing and oil drums.

Further investigations by the Highland News revealed the problem was much more widespread, with household and industrial waste scattered across land between the A82 and the Caledonian Canal.
