An Inverness-based charity is appealing for volunteers to help run its brand new shops and warehouse.

Highland Hospice is looking for people for its new shop in Falcon Square as well as its Drop and Shop warehouse in Harbour Road.

The warehouse and Harbour Road shop, which stock a large variety of discount items, are open now, while the Falcon Square premises is due to open on Monday.

Maria Cuthbert, the hospice’s volunteer manager, said: “We are so grateful to everyone who has been along to our new warehouse to drop off donations. So many people had a large clearout during lockdown and very kindly held onto their items for us.

“We had to close the warehouse for a couple of days, just to catch up, and could really use some extra help to keep on top of things.

“The opening of our shop in Falcon Square is eagerly anticipated, and again, we really need a few extra pairs of hands to help it run to its full potential.

“All three of these brand new premises are to be open seven days a week, so we particularly need cover for Saturday and Sunday shifts.

“There are a variety of tasks you can do as a retail volunteer, depending on preference and ability, within a friendly working environment.

“Volunteering for just a few hours a week really could make a big difference to the care we provide, as well as offering a sense of achievement by helping a great cause within the Highland community.”

The hospice relies on the support and generosity of volunteers and donors.
