Loch Ness monster register reports second official sighting of Nessie in 2025

The second official sighting of the Loch Ness monster in 2025 has been recorded, according to the dedicated register.

This new entry, dated May 23, was reported by a visitor in the area during the Loch Ness Quest organised by the Loch Ness Centre.

According to the official register, the “monster hunter” said that, whilst at the high-vantage point overlooking Urquhart Bay, he spotted a small motor boat entering the Bay.

“When he checked it out through binoculars, he spotted something long and thin pop up in the boat's wake,” the regiter reports.

“It vanished a few times but he managed to catch it on film.”

The sighting lasted 3-5 minutes and took place at around 3.40pm.

It comes as reported sightings of the legendary creature have dropped down, with just three official ones recorded in 2024 — whereas they were 10 in 2023.

However some unofficial sightings have also been logged — with one reported by the Loch Ness centre in April.
