A number of positive cases of Covid-19 have been linked to an Inverness hotel.

It is understood that they were connected with the Chieftain Hotel over the festive period and both NHS Highland and Highland Council are aware of the situation.

An NHS Highland spokesman said: "NHS Highland is aware of a number of positive cases linked to the Chieftain Hotel in Inverness over the festive period. Contact tracing was carried out with all positive cases and identified close contacts advised to self-isolate. NHS Highland's Health Protection Team is working closely with The Highland Council's Environmental Health Department to provide advice and guidance."

A Highland Council spokeswoman said: “This was over the festive period and our Environmental Health Team are not currently investigating. The Highland Council's Environmental Health Team provides advice and guidance to businesses while working closely with NHS Highland's Health Protection Team.”

No-one from the hotel was available for comment.
