Completion of a controversial riverside artwork in Inverness has been delayed due to a shortage of materials.
The My Ness (Gathering Place), an amphitheatre with curved walls on either side of the River Ness near Bught Park, was expected to be completed in August.
But work on the structure, which has attracted some opposition and safety concerns, is still ongoing.
The project is being led by Highland Council.
A council spokesman said work was progressing well and added: “There have been slight delays due to supply shortages outwith our control, which have now been resolved with final delivery of materials being scheduled.
“Construction firm, Simpson, are taking extra care around the finer details of the stone work to ensure the piece exactly matches the designers’ vision.
“We are very close to being able to share this unique and special artwork with the public.”
When asked to give timescales, the spokesman was unable to do so but said “very soon”.
When site preparations began in April, the work was expected to be completed in early summer, coinciding with the easing of lockdown.
But higher river levels early on in the construction phase resulted in additional time being required to avoid disturbing the environment of the river.
