A resident of the city has received an invitation for a reception with the King at Buckingham Palace.

Monica Lee-Macpherson chairwoman and trustee of Scottish Highlands & Islands and Moray Chinese Association (SHIMCA) was delighted to receive the invite when she got to her office yesterday.

Mrs Lee-Macpherson – who has already received an MBE – is due to attend the ceremony in February, in order to celebrate the British East and South-East Asian Communities in the UK.

She was nominated to attend due to the work she does for the Chinese community in the region.

Speaking about the invitation she said: “I am very pleased! I knew I had been nominated and others had received their invitations but I hadn’t got mine.

“When I got to the office here and saw it, I was very happy!

“I’m looking forward to attending and for the celebrations.”
