The owners of a popular village shop in Nairnshire have retired after a decade in business.

Audrey and John Wallace, former owners of the Cawdor Village Shop, opened the store for the last time on Sunday, October 8.

Last month it was announced that the store was being taken over by Inverness venture Whisk Away.

On their last weekend in business, customers gathered to show their appreciation for all the hard work and devotion to the local community.

Local customer Neil Shaw said: "John and Audrey will be missed by their customers, who wish them both good luck and happiness for the future. Cawdor Village Shop remains open under new ownership.

"You could always be guaranteed “service with a smile” making the shop the heart of the village."

The pair received a bunch of flowers from Scarlet MacDonald on their retirement day.
