A community cafe in Inverness is offering a free drink to people struggling financially.

The Bike Shed in Merkinch is running a Shed Loads of Love scheme whereby any customer can donate a drink to someone in need and likewise, any customer can redeem that drink at any time.

The cafe, in Grant Street, is also offering food at discounted prices for those struggling financially along with a free drink.

The cafe opened in 2018 as a joint partnership involving the Methodist Church and King’s Fellowship which runs a successful coffee shop in a converted fish processing factory in the Smithton Industrial Estate.

It followed surveys revealing residents felt the area desperately needed a cafe.
