Police received intelligence that an Inverness man had drugs in his house and obtained a search warrant.

The raid was carried out in the Springfield Gardens property occupied by 30-year-old Michael Munro on November 23, 2019.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that officers found 19.15 grams of cocaine in a bag with a street value of £750.

But fiscal depute David Morton told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald that the drugs had a potential to accrue £1910.

A quantity of cash, totalling £696, was also found, but Mr Morton said some of that was Munro’s personal money.

Sentence had been previously deferred for a background report on Munro, who admitted possession of drugs with intent to supply, and now lives in Blarmore Avenue, Inverness.

Defence solicitor Graham Mann told the court: “He reacted badly to a break-up and it led him into a bad peer group and substance misuse.”

Munro was ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid community work as an alternative to a prison sentence.
