A GARDEN centre has stopped clowning around and paid long-overdue bills to Bubbles the Clown.

The fed-up entertainer, otherwise known as David Dunn, yesterday took his one-man protest to Dobbies over unpaid invoices worth almost £900, dating back 565 days.

But there was good news for the 51-year-old outside the store at Inshes retail park when word finally came through from head office in Edinburgh that the outstanding bills would be processed by the end of the day.

repeatedly asked for payments for three appearances, including one at Christmas, believed it was the intervention of The Inverness Courier which made the difference.

"This is a major store," said Mr Dunn, of Ardclach, near Nairn. "I am just a small business. They have tol

A spokeswoman for Dobbies said: "We are very sorry that it has taken a while for us to make payment to David Dunn, due to administration errors at the store.

"This is a highly unusual occurrence and we are pleased that we have been able to resolve the issue."

She added it was only in the past two months that they were made aware of the overdue payments.
