An Inverness road is to be closed for three months.

A road in the Milton of Leys area of Inverness is to be closed to allow for junction work.

The B9177 Milton of Leys-Bogbain-Castlehill Road will be clsoed from 8am on Monday (August 17) until 5pm on Friday, November 27.

Highland Council said the closure is required for safety reasons, to enable contractors to carry out the realignment of the junction between the B9177 and B9006 Culloden Road.

Local councillor Ken Gowans was unhappy with the news.

He said: “Closing this road for 12 weeks will be a major inconvenience for many who will now need to take a different route which will inevitably add to journey times and increase congestion at Inshes roundabout.

"This work is being undertaken to serve a very controversial housing development, one that was opposed by all four ward councillors and Cradlehall and Westhill Community Council, yet was recommended for approval by Highland Council planners."
