Essential repairs are being carried out to the sewer in Glebe Street in Inverness with the road closed to traffic.

The work, by contractor Kier, has been arranged by Scottish Water to ensure its network can continue to serve customers and protect the local environment.

It is necessary for Glebe Street to be closed to traffic, between its junction with Chapel Street and Friars’ Street, and the closure, which began at 9am today, is expected to be in place for three days.

A signposted diversion will be in place via Friars’ Lane and arrangements will also be in place to maintain safe pedestrian access throughout.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: "We would like to thank customers and road users for their understanding while we carry out this essential work to repair a section of sewer in Inverness city centre.”
