A five-star rating for the Ness Walk hotel confirms its status as the most luxurious hotel in the city.

The hotel on the banks of the River Ness opened this summer with the aim of meeting the needs of the top end of the hospitality market, which Tony Story, managing director of the Kingsmills Group which owns Ness Walk as well as the city's Kingsmills Hotel, believed Inverness has been missing out on until now.

"Guests are looking for the level of service that Ness Walk will provide," he said at the time of opening.

"We wanted to develop a hotel where the customer and their experience is the sole focus and that is what Ness Walk will provide."

VisitScotland managing director Malcolm Roughead visited the 47-bedroom Ness Walk to officially present Mr Story and his team with the hotel's five-star accreditation yesterday.

The presentation prompted the hotel to tweet: "We can't contain our excitement to share that we have now officially been awarded our five-star status by @VisitScotland.

"This achievement is the product of an enthusiastic, dedicated and hardworking team that we are proud to call the Ness Walk family."

The Kingsmills Group is set to add a third Inverness hotel to its portfolio in 2021 with the opening of a new hotel in the city's Church Street.
