Research on the fallen of two World Wars will feature as part of a special exhibition to mark the 125th anniversary of an Inverness Church.

The congregation at Crown Church of Scotland is preparing for the milestone occasion later this month.

As part of the programme of events, the public will be able to look at research on former members of the congregation who made the ultimate sacrifice during wartime.

It includes one member who actually preached in the church before returning to France never to return again to Inverness.

To mark its 125th anniversary, the church will open its doors for tours between noon - 2 pm each day between September 16 - 28.

Names listed on the pulpit and the commemorative plaque over the door beside the organ acknowledge the ultimate sacrifice made by former church members and parishioners during both World Wars.

But for many years they were just names - except to those who knew the individuals or their families.

Visitors to the church can now consult two volumes of research which can provide information on the majority of those listed and view the range of medals awarded to those in World War I.

A display of wartime service records put together by church member Bob Shanks will also feature as part of an exhibition of posters depicting the work of the church.

The anniversary programme also includes a choral event on Saturday September 21.

Former minister Rev Dr Peter Donald, now preaching in Airdrie, will return on Sunday September 22 to join in a special anniversary service. He was minister when the church celebrated its centenary.
