Restaurant supervisor Kelly Taylor knows more than most about Christmas Day working.

She has rarely missed a December 25 shift since she was 16.

For once, though, the legs will be spared on Boxing Day as the Highlands begins level four restrictions.

“I was a chef before I started working out front and the only Christmases I had off were when my son and daughter were born,” the 38-year-old from Nairn said.

“It’s a tough day – crazy, but good crazy if that makes sense!

“We all want to make sure people have a lovely, relaxed time as it is their Christmas Day together. The great thing is everybody you serve is usually in good spirits.”

The Kingsmills will wine and dine around 180 with a delicious festive menu.

Ms Taylor added: “This year we can’t do our big Christmas banquet and buffet because of Covid, so it is all table service. The shifts are shorter this year and I’ll be working 7am to 4pm.

“My kids are also early risers, so I’ll see them before work and be back home in the evening for Christmas dinner with the family.”
