Fiscal depute Adele Gray told Sheriff Principal Eilidh MacDonald: “He was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register. When police went out to him on March 5, he notified police of four cards, and informed them one of them was a Post Office credit card.”

Moir, of Sinclair Park, Smithton, pleaded guilty to failing to notify police within three days of obtaining the credit card.

Sheriff Macdonald fined him a total of £210.

She said: “These are serious matters for you.”

Moir’s defence solicitor said: “He used the card to purchase Christmas presents and didn’t think he was doing anything wrong.

“He now understands and has a more simplified version of the terms of the order.”
