Child rapist (61) guilty of sexual assault

A CHILD rapist who inflicted a painful sexual assault on a young girl that left her feeling that she wanted to suffocate and die was warned he faced a lengthy jail sentence today.
Gary Dunn (61) carried out abuse of children over more than two decades at addresses in Moray and a rape in Aberdeen.
Dunn had denied a string of charges during a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh but was found guilty of three rape offences and three indecency crimes against girls.
Dunn, formerly of Rothes, in Moray, began his offending in 1998 and continued until 2019 with three child victims.
After the jury returned its verdict the trial judge Lady Poole told him: "These are very serious offences of child sexual abuse."
"Clearly a substantial custodial sentence is going to be appropriate in this case," said the judge. Lady Poole told jurors that it had been "a very serious and unpleasant case".
One victim told the court that Dunn subjected her to a painful sexual ordeal as a child. She said: "I had my head in between pillows and I was hoping I could suffocate and die to be honest."
The woman, now aged 32, thought that she was 13 or 14 when Dunn had perpetrated the abuse in the incident.
Advocate depute Peter Ferguson QC asked her how she felt after the incident and she replied: "I felt sore. I felt numb. I just wanted it to stop."
Dunn had preyed on the child previously and told her to close her eyes during sex acts he performed on her.
Dunn's most recent abuse of a child occurred in 2018 and 2019 when he sexually assaulted a girl from the age of 10 and simulated sex with her and raped her.
He had previously molested another girl from the age of nine from 2003 to 2006 who he touched and simulated sexual intercourse with during the abuse.
Dunn, a prisoner in Inverness, who appeared in the dock with the aid of two walking sticks, had sentence deferred on him until next month for the preparation of a background report and risk assessment. He was placed on the sex offenders' register.,
Defence counsel Bill Adam said: "He has been on remand for a considerable period of time and will remain so until sentence."
