An Inverness charity shop is to make way for a new affordable homes project in the city centre.

New Start Highland is to close the doors at its shop in Church Street, Inverness on Friday, July 24 ahead of a move to Carsegate Road North.

Chief executive James Dunbar said: "We are delighted to start this new chapter in New Start Highland’s 20 year story.

"The move to Carsegate Road North and the consolidation of our offering under one roof is just the beginning of this exciting development.

"As part of our Covid-19 response our new click and collect service has really helped stock to fly out the doors at 99 Church Street, but there is still time for customers to grab a bargain.

"We look forward to welcoming the Highland community to our Carsegate Road North outlet.

"As a charity which supports people experiencing homelessness and delivers employability training, we are happy to see our Church Street shop transformed into affordable and mid-market housing.

"This will also deliver jobs at a particularly difficult time for the Highland economy."

The charity’s newly renovated outlet at 9 Carsegate Road North will house a wide range of concessions including affordable homeware, bike sales and servicing, upcycling workshops, Unique Ness vintage furniture (restored in-house) and highly sought after Frenchic paint.

The Church Street store is to be demolished and redeveloped into affordable city centre housing by ARK Estates.
