Bus timetables are set to change in Inverness and the Highlands following last month's public consultation.

Operator Stagecoach has released new timetables set to take effect next month.

It says the timetables have been designed following an analysis of current travel trends and from public feedback in order to make a series of improvements to the local bus network in Inverness and the Black Isle, adding the routes have also been simplified which will make it easier for new bus users to plan their journey by bus with confidence.

Customer feedback has prompted the following changes:

  • Additional early morning journeys for commuters from Culduthel Farm to the city centre that will arrive in the city centre before 7am.
  • Service to Cawdor Castle will extend to Piperhill.
  • Improved service to/from Kildary.
  • Additional time added for journeys in Milton of Leys to improve punctuality.
  • Connections between South Kessock and Carse Trading Estate introduced.
  • Late-night connection to Ardersier from Inverness introduced at 11.20pm.
  • Adjustments to various services to allow onward connections to long distance rail departures.

To thank people who gave feedback in the consultation, Stagecoach will be emailing a discount code valid for one day of free travel to everyone who submitted feedback on the proposals in December. The code will be valid from February 10 for two weeks.

David Beaton, managing director for Stagecoach Highlands, said: “We have been delighted with the response we received to our consultation in December through our email inbox and at the event we hosted in the Spectrum Centre.

"The feedback we received was extremely helpful to learn more about what is important to our customers. We hope that having listened to this feedback we have made choosing the bus more attractive to the communities we are proud to serve.”

Final timetables from February 10 are available on the Stagecoach website.
