A BRAVE mum and daughter who have inspired others after overcoming a series of devastating setbacks proudly took to the catwalk to raise funds for Cancer Research.

Lynda Campbell was joined by her daughter Carla when she lined up for the Inverness fashion show with other women from Ross-shire who have battled the disease.

Lynda, from Dingwall, was only 39 with two young children when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent genetic testing shortly after she lost two of her beloved aunts to ovarian cancer.

The results revealed that she was carrying a BRAC1 gene, and later tests showed her daughter Carla (40) was also carrying the gene.

Both women underwent double mastectomies and had their ovaries removed.

The fashion show took place at the Jury’s Inn on Friday.

The money was raised for breast cancer work being carried out by Cancer Research UK.

One of the organisers, Donna Smith said: “The show went really well. It was a great night and a total of £3500 was raised. We were delighted because the show was a sell-out with 200 people attending.”
