Nairn sings in Christmas in festive style at the Links bandstand
A BUSINESS organisation hosted a festive community sing-along on Thursday night, with participants enjoying a fitting snowy scene.
Families from all over Nairn wrapped up warm and brought good cheer – and sledges – at the Christmas carols night organised by Nairn BID inside the iconic Wallace Bandstand at the Links.
Nairn BID invited Highland Brass to come and play as well as singers from Mellow Yellow Creative Arts Adults and Children to come to lend their voices, and gave out free carol sheets so that families would be able to sing along.
Pubs sold warming winter drinks to take away before the singing got under way.
The Christmas lights twinkled as the soft tones of trumpets, trombones and tubas drifted out across the frosty night, as over 150 people’s voices rang out.
Nairn Connects BID uses the money businesses contribute to its funds as well as leveraging outside sources of funding to provide events and initiatives designed to make Nairn a more attractive place to live, work and do business.
They would like to thank Nairn Common Good, Lewis Hannah, ward manager, and Cllr Laurie Fraser for making the lights work. Special mention goes to Gordon Holding from the Havelock Hotel without whom there would have been no lights to switch on
The evening was filmed for VisitNairn and may make an appearance in future promotional videos for Nairn as a year-round destination.
Highland Brass played at the Wallace Bandstand at the Links last summer to great acclaim and have booked two future dates for summer 2023 –the events will be advertised through VisitNairn.
