Three members of caring staff from the Highlands have been honoured at the Meallmore Awards, winning top accolades.

Triumphing at a recent award’s ceremony were Vicky Kilgour from Culduthel Care Home, Andrew Rodden from Meallmore Lodge in Daviot and Angela Patterson, who works at the company’s head office in Inverness.

Ms Kilgour triumphed in the senior care worker category for “being a fantastic team leader”. She was commended for her passion and positive, supportive and professional attitude, which has a huge impact on the lives of both the residents in her care and her team.

Mr Rodden, who works in Daviot, claimed the title of mentor of the year, a new category introduced to the awards. He was praised for embracing his role as a team leader and being a “brilliant mentor”, instilling confidence in junior, overseas and newly-qualified members of staff. Helping people fulfil their potential and become future leaders was a key reason behind his win.

The third award went to Ms Patterson for her exceptional efforts in the head office and field-based team category. She was credited for her open door policy, willingness to listen and help others, and her invaluable ability to deal with any business query.

The annual ceremony was hosted by Michelle McManus at Perth Race Course and aims to celebrate the positive impact staff make to people’s lives on a daily basis.

Nominations are open to more than 1600 staff across the company from residents, family and friends, visiting professional and fellow staff members. Winners received a certificate, trophy and an iPad for their hard work.

Gerry Hennessey, managing director of Meallmore Ltd said: “Congratulations to Vicky, Andrew and Angela for all their hard work over the last year.

“The awards are thoroughly well-deserved, and it gives me great pride to see members of the team showcasing such commitment.

“The awards are vital to recognise how hard members of the team work to provide the best possible care.”
